While the maximum cleaning area for Austin Air Allergy Machine Junior is rated at 750 sq. ft. @ 2 ACH (air changes per hour), it is recommended that for best air cleaning result it would be used in a room under 375 sq. ft. with 8 foot high height ceiling.

True HEPA Filter

The Allergy Machine Junior's long-lastingTrue HEPA Filter traps from the air over 99.97% of all solid airborne contaminants down to 0.3 micron in size. True HEPA is the industry standard particulate filter that provides a superior protection from sub-micron allergens and lung damaging dust including: mold spores, plant spores, pollen, house dust mites and debris, pet dander, bird feather dust, ground talc, microscopic particles in wildfire, tobacco (cigar and cigarette) smoke, smoke from wood burning stove and furnace, asbestos dust, etc. Large amount of True HEPA media used (30 sq.  ft.) renders a long filter's lifetime - up to 3 to 5 years.

Activated Carbon Filter

Austin Allergy Machine Junior employs Lightweight Cloth-embed dust carbon HEGA filter - similar to the one used in Austin Air Allergy Machine standard air purifier.
The HEGA (High Efficiency Gas Adsorption) is quite effective in fast removal of a wide variety of regular chemicals and odors. However, due to a smaller amount of dust carbon adsorbent used, the overall adsorption capacity is substantially lower than for 6.5 lb. of granular carbon adsorbent in Austin Air HealthMate Junior canister. For that reason, the HEGA filter can get saturated sooner and may require more frequent filter replacements.
On the positive note, the lightweight HEGA filter makes the Austin Air Allergy Machine Junior about 6 lbs. lighter that Austin Air HealthMate Junior model and makes it easier to carry up and down stairs if needed.
Important Notice!
Since both True HEPA and Activated Carbon filters in Austin Air Allergy Machine Junior are combined together in a single-piece Filter assembly, the whole filter has to be replaced with a new one when either filter reaches the end of its lifetime.
To helps users to offset the cost of replacement filters and promote a worry-free ownership of Austin Air units, the whole filters assembly is covered by a 5-Year Pro Rated manufacturer's warranty (applicable to normal residential use only). 

PermaFilter Pre-Filter

Standard PermaFilt polyester Pre-filter used as the first stage of air filtration system, stops nearly all large dust and dirt particles, lint and hair. It helps protect fine True HEPA filter from faster contamination and extend its lifetime.
PermaFilt pre-filter is available in two colors: Black for units in Black and Midnight Blue colors, White for units in Sandstone and White colors.
Located right behind the perforated metal grill, pre-filter covers the entire internal surface of a Polluted air intake.
The pre-filter can be easily vacuumed from dust and dirt right through the grill and easily replaced at a minimal cost when gets ruined or dirty.
The Free pre-filter of a matching color is included with each new filter assembly.
